Join a supportive and engaging community of SketchPad members and Jewish communal professionals from across Chicagoland for a two-part series on creating a fundraising plan, facilitated by Giving Tree Associates. Specializing in small and mid-size organizations, Giving Tree's not for profit consultants combine big-picture vision and the on-the-ground expertise to help you build strong leaders, financial stability and sustainable growth.
Whether you are an executive director, development professional or professional with fundraising responsibilities, this series will help you create a fundraising roadmap that will make a difference for your organization. The first session will focus on writing a plan that includes:
- Creating an annual budget and other benchmarks
- Building tactics for key donor segments and constituencies
- Evaluating current tactics and determining how to make strategic changes to increase revenue and improve operations
- Workng with volunteers and other organizational leaders to support the planning and implementation process
During the second session, participants will have the opportunity to share their draft plans and receive feedback and recommendations from a new network of colleagues.

LANI HART, FACILITATOR
This series will be facilitated by Lani Hart, Senior Associate Consultant at Giving Tree Associates. Lani brings 10 years of nonprofit experience in philanthropy, social entrepreneurship and leadership development to her work. Lani’s strong project management and communication skills, fresh perspective on organizational challenges, and commitment to her clients help her build meaningful relationships with organizational leaders and guide initiatives to success.
Prior to joining Giving Tree in 2016, Lani spent eight years working for The Jewish Federation system, most recently as the assistant director of talent acquisition and talent development for The Jewish Federations of North America. She also served as assistant director of young leadership at The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, where she managed the department’s annual campaign,
coordinated events, and worked with both donors and solicitors. In addition, Lani has served as a consultant for Blue Engine, PresenTense, the Taproot Foundation and SketchPad.
Lani holds an M.P.A. in nonprofit management and a master’s degree in Jewish Studies from New York University, and is a recipient of the Federation Executive Recruitment and Education Program (FEREP) scholarship. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
